Health Alert: We have had reports of the flu in our center recently.
What is it: Influenza (the flu) is a broad term for several types of contagious upper respiratory infections caused by different viruses.
How it is spread: sneezing, not washing hands enough or properly, sharing drinks or food, touching doorknobs or handles.
What to look for: a fever over 100 degrees or feeling feverish, a cough/ sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches/bodyaches, chills, fatigue, vomiting or diarrhea.
What you can do: Check for symptoms, make sure your child is properly washing hands, and having child cough into inside of the elbow.
If you suspect your child has been infected: Call your doctor as soon as you can.
What we are doing to prevent the spread: keeping klneex close by at all times, showing proper hand washing, showing proper coughing into arm, cleaning all toys, tables, bedding at the end of each day.
